Perfect Jump and Freestyle Backcountry for the first day of competition

Good weather this Wednesday morning allowed the riders to begin the competition on the “perfect jump”.  The 7m high jump, and great performances allowed cameramen today for some great footage.  Amongst the riders, the Japanese Yuri Suzuki, the Frenchman Arthur Longo and the Austrian Tobias Tricheur, stood above the rest this morning, combining great style and technique.

The show continued later in the day, in the Freestyle Backcountry zone.  An area specially prepared for the event, mixing tight lines through couloirs, rocks and over jumps. Both skiers and borders were able to link up lines and jumps on fresh snow.  19 year old Canadian, Kye Petersen, Jerome Mathieu and Lolo Favre, led the competition, linking up almost perfect runs.

The day finished up with an autograph signing session for the local kids, who came up today to cheer on the riders.
