Safety partnership between Oxbow and RECCO

For the “Oxbow Back To Powder” event that will be taking place on February 1 thru 7, 2009 in Arêches-Beaufort (Savoy, France), Oxbow is pulling out all the stops to guarantee optimum safety conditions for the riders and all those attending the competition.

As part of this effort, RECCO will be providing their RECCO safety belts to all the riders participating in “Oxbow Back To Powder” and, by doing so, will be optimizing the safety of an event that, by its very nature, is based around the “backcountry” .

As well as this partnership, Oxbow and RECCO are organizing a round table on mountain safety on Thursday February 5, from 6 pm to 7:30 pm. This will be accompanied by a screening of “White Book - The Movie”, which was shot to raise people’s awareness of avalanches.

RECCO® is an avalanche rescue system that is used throughout the world to rapidly locate people who have been buried under snow. It does not replace an ARVA , but does increase the chances of being found in time. This RECCO system is fitted into the vast majority of Oxbow jackets .

Program for Thursday February 5:

6 pm - 6:30 pm:
Screening of “White Book - The Movie”

6:30 pm - 7 pm:
Presentation of the 3 themes by the guest speakers:
- The different zones and activities, the risks and responsibilities
- The development of technology to improve information, safety and rescue
- Communication, information and training

7 pm:
Questions and debate with the participation of Oxbow’s Product Manager
